The Hospitality Academi project – Case Study: The Masons Arms

The Hospitality Academi is a dynamic skills project funded by the UK Government, administered by Carmarthenshire County Council and delivered by Really Pro Ltd. The project is designed to help hospitality, leisure, accommodation and tourism businesses across Carmarthenshire to upskill, retrain and attract new staff.

The Masons Arms, Kidwelly is located at 37 Water Street, Kidwelly, SA17 5BX, owned and run by Emma Wright.  A thatched-roof 14th Century building and 18th Century pub with a stone floor, cozy fire and gorgeous wooden beams, filled with warmth and history, situated in the heart of the historic town of Kidwelly.  The Masons Arms, Kidwelly leaves you feeling the hundreds of years’ worth of great nights that have taken place there. With a beautiful beer garden and amazing handmade waterfall fountain, you’ll find yourself in the right atmosphere and leaving with a smile on your face after swapping stories and histories. The pub provides jobs for local people and is keeping the pub scene alive with support from the local community.

Mae’r prosiect wedi’i gynllunio i helpu busnesau lletygarwch, hamdden, llety a thwristiaeth ledled Sir Gaerfyrddin i uwchsgilio, ailhyfforddi a denu staff newydd.

Mae Tafarn y Masons Arms, Cydweli wedi’i lleoli yn 37 Stryd y Dŵr, Cydweli, SA17 5BX, ac mae’n eiddo i Emma Wright ac yn cael ei redeg ganddi. Adeilad to gwellt o’r 14eg Ganrif a thafarn o’r 18fed Ganrif gyda llawr carreg, tân clyd a thrawstiau pren godidog, yn llawn cynhesrwydd a hanes, wedi’i leoli yng nghanol tref hanesyddol Cydweli. Mae Tafarn y Masons Arms, Cydweli yn gadael i chi deimlo’r cannoedd o flynyddoedd o nosweithiau gwych a gynhaliwyd yno. Gyda gardd gwrw hardd a ffynnon rhaeadr anhygoel wedi’i gwneud â llaw, byddwch yn yr awyrgylch cywir ac yn gadael gyda gwên ar eich wyneb ar ôl cyfnewid straeon a hanesion. Mae’r dafarn yn darparu swyddi i bobl leol ac yn cadw’r olygfa dafarndai yn fyw gyda chefnogaeth y gymuned leol.

Emma, two of her staff and 5 individuals from the community were the recent beneficiaries of Level 2 Basic life support & safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training via The Hospitality Academi project.  Following the session Emma said, “the training was very informative and Lea was excellent”.  Emma promoted this free training to her local community to encourage more people to acquire this important life skill, feel confident using a defibrillator and have the opportunity to get professionally trained for free.
